Contrafed Publishing has been producing magazines for New Zealand’s infrastructure industries for more than 46 years.

Contrafed Publishing is an independent industry magazine publisher. The shareholders established the company in 1976 for its founding title, Contractor, and have continued to support the company ever since. Over time, and as resources have allowed, titles have been added to the portfolio, which now includes: Contractor, New Zealand Quarrying & Mining (Q&M) and Local Government (LG) magazines.

CONTRACTOR MAGAZINE

Contractor magazine is the voice of the New Zealand civil contracting industry. It provides readers with the news and views, along with in-depth coverage of projects underway throughout the country. The magazine also profiles prominent people and businesses within the industry.

Published monthly, Contractor provides health and safety advice, recruitment and training stories, as well as authoritative comment from industry experts. In addition Contractor has articles on the latest technical innovations and covers industry conferences and trade shows. It also features articles on historical projects and machinery.

Contractor subscribers are company owners and senior executives involved in civil construction, earthmoving, road building and maintenance, quarrying, heavy haulage, crane operation and machinery hire. Its readers also include government ministers and their departments, local MPs and local authorities. It is also available throughout New Zealand at selected retail outlets.

LOCAL GOVERNMENT MAGAZINE  

Local Government magazine is the only magazine in New Zealand published for our local government sector.

Through our interviews, profiles, trend insights, opinions, discussions and case studies in our monthly print magazine, website and e-news, we reach workers and representatives in the country’s 78 councils and authorities.

Monthly editorial features and informative case studies are a popular source for products and services while providing valuable lesson in subjects from digital communications and community engagement, to central government regulations and three waters reform.

Local Government Magazine is published 11 times per year in print and digital format. As of February 2021* over 1200 print copies are circulated to subscribers and selected recipients and 1100 digital editions dispatched via our email database.
